Harmonic minor scale
The harmonic minor scale differs from the natural minor by the 7th note being sharpened, giving it a more moody feel.
Despite the interval between the 6th and 7th notes being somewhat awkward, composers such as Mozart have used it to advantage. More recently the scale was resurrected in popular music by guitarists such as Toni Iommi to create dark and moving melodies.
